P.K Sreemathy Teacher Is an Indian politician from Kerala, and a member of Communist Party of India (Marxist). She is the Member of the Indian Parliament, representing Kannur Constituency.
She is the daughter of Shri. T. Kelappan Nambiar and Smt. P.K Meenakshi Amma, born at Mayyil (Kannur) on 4th May 1949; Pre- Degree and also completed Teacher Training course. Worked at St. Mary’s, College Sulthan Bathery, Kerala.
Sreemathy teacher is a controversial politician in Kerala politics. She has been active in social life for the past 30 year. She was the member and standing committee chairperson in the Kannur District Council, President of Kannur District Panchayat and the State Secretary of All India Democratic Women’s Association. She also held the position of Health Minister (2006–2011) at Kerala Legislative Assembly. She actively involved in the Pain and palliative Care and for the welfare of women and child development.
Currently is the State Secretary at All India Democratic Women’s Association and the Member of C.P.I (M) National Committee. She was elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly in 2001 to 2006 from Payyanur.
